The LG KM900 Arena and the LG KP500 Cookie are both launches from the LG stable. While the Arena is a multimedia smart phone, the Cookie is being sold as a camera smart phone.
Design
The KM900 has a sleek and stylish metallic casing and has a tempered glass scratch resistant protection for its touch screen. The KP500 on the other hand has a soft feel plastic casing which looks propitious without being tacky. Its rectangular form is prosaic. Both phones have a 3 inch touch screen. The Cookie is incredibly light at 89grams and more pocket friendly than the Arena.
User Interface
The LG Arena has a brand new 3D user interface which has a cube capable of being rotated with finger swipes. Using the cube you can access four menu screens from which various applications can be easily opened. The LG Cookie interface on the other hand is simple, intuitive, user friendly and tactile sensitive. It has 2 home screens one housing seven frequently used application widgets and the other with 4 menu themes namely communication, entertainment, Utilities and Settings.
Memory and Battery
The LG KM900 has a memory capacity of a generous 8GB internal memory which can be further expanded by 16GB with the use of the Micro SD slot card. The LG KP500 has an internal memory of only 48MB which can be expanded by up to only 8GB using the micro SD card slot. The LG Arena has a talk time of 3 hours 50 minutes and a standby time of 300 hours whereas the LG Cookie has a talk time of 3.5 hours and a stand by time of 350 hours.
Other Features
The Arena has a 5 Mega pixel camera that blows off the 3 Mega pixel camera of the Cookie. The KM900 camera has auto focus and flash attributes to augment picture quality. The KP500 has a 2 times digital zoom for better image capture. Both phones have the ability to record high quality videos. The LG Arena has an outstanding image gallery for browsing pictures taken on the phone.
The Arena has an audio player and a video player, is a multimedia centric phone and it has incorporated sophisticated Dolby technology to ensure that the best quality sound is emitted while playing audio and video. The LG Cookie to has a music player that supports MP3/AAC/AAC+/AAC++/WMA formats and a video player too. Both handsets have FM radio.
The KM900 Arena supports various types of games. Java games can be downloaded onto the phone. The KP500 Cookie too does not ignore the gamers’ interests and supports Java games. The LG Arena provides a speedy internet experience with its 7.2 HSDPA, Wi Fi, WAP , EDGE and 3G support The Cookie’s internet browsing is assisted only by web technologies like WAP and EDGE. Both phones have GPS and Blue Tooth connectivity.
Though the LG Cookie is a decent touch screen camera phone, the LG Arena is more powerful in the communication, camera and multimedia arenas.
